Recall that in accordance with the previous version of the Rules for the provision of Hotel Services, it was impossible to check in children under the age of 14 without a notarized power of attorney from their parents. This rule came into effect on January 1, 2021.
The tourism business reacted negatively to the initiative. Opinions were expressed that this norm would deal a serious blow to children's organized tourism (especially weekend trips), create a lot of inconvenience to ordinary tourists when a child travels with relatives.
It was noted that during the 2 months of the validity of this requirement, children's organized tourism faced significant problems. A large number of excursions were canceled. It was reported that the average cost of a notarial power of attorney varies from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles. Not all parents are willing to pay the above amount and spend time on the registration of such a power of attorney.
Currently, the situation has been completely resolved. The written consent of one of the legal representatives is sufficient for children under the age of 14 to check into the hotel.
